BIOGRAPHY

Katherine Rose is a Filipino-Australian artist based in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. With a practice that spans expressive acrylic paintings, watercolour, mixed-media works, and finely detailed portrait drawings, Katherine draws inspiration from both the rugged natural beauty of the Australian outback and the complexity of human emotion. Her work often reflects the raw energy and vivid colors of the Pilbara landscape, juxtaposed with intimate explorations of personal and cultural identity.

Katherine's artistic journey began as a deeply personal exploration, but over the years, it has grown into a vibrant creative practice that bridges visual art, community engagement, and education. She is the founder of paintbox, a thriving art and music studio that fosters creativity for people of all ages. Through paintbox, Katherine curates art experiences, leads art workshops, and delivers guitar and ukulele lessons tailored for both beginner and developing musicians.

Her acrylic paintings are particularly known for their bold use of colour and intricate detailing, often depicting native flora and fauna, including whimsical depictions of foxes and vibrant floral arrangements. Katherine's mixed-media works embrace abstract textures, layering splashes of neon and earthy tones to evoke the dynamic energy of nature. Her portraiture, rendered in graphite and charcoal, delves into the human experience, capturing raw emotion with striking realism and depth.

As a passionate advocate for regional artists, Katherine works to elevate the arts in the Pilbara, providing platforms for emerging and established artists through community and  collaboration.

Under the artist name Katherine Rose, her work continues to evolve, reflecting her belief that creativity is a lifelong journey—one deeply intertwined with nature, community, and personal growth.
